MENU WITH DROPDOWN
The physician will enter your abdomen through small incisions. The stomach will be moved down to view the esophagus.
The esophagus will me measured, and then fitted with the LINX device.
The magnets will then hold the esophagus in place to prevent stomach acid for entering the esophagus while allowing food to pass through to the stomach.
You will most likely experience a decrease in your GERD symptoms by the next day. You are allowed, in fact encouraged, to eat regular food immediately after the LINX – a unique advantage over other procedures
The risks are very low with this device. It is deemed to be generally safe.
The LINX device is a long-term implant. Removal and replacement surgery may be indicated at any time. Management of adverse reactions may include explantation and/or replacement.
The benefits of LINX Surgery at BMI Surgical in Atlanta include an Outpatient – no hospital stay patient experience.
Furthermore, 85% of patients do not need acid reflux medications afterwards! There are also small incisions and the results are long-lasting.
The LINX Reflux Management System is a small, flexible band of magnets enclosed in titanium beads.
The magnetic attraction between the beads helps keep the weak lower esophogeal sphincter closed to prevent reflux.
Swallowing forces temporarily break the magnetic bond to allow food and liquid to pass into the stomach
